Who we are
This policy explains how Holy Crap Pet Services Inc. ("Holy Crap", "we", "us") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information. We are an Alberta corporation providing pet waste removal in Calgary. We handle personal information in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- Contact details: your first name, mobile number, and email if you give it.
- Service details: your postal code and service address, how many dogs you have, gate or lock codes, where to find a key, and any notes you give us about your dogs or yard.
- Visit records: the dates of your visits and the photo of your latched gate that we text you after each one.
- Billing details: your billing history. Card payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not store your full card number.
- Messages: texts and emails you send us.
- Website and advertising data: basic technical information such as your browser, the page you came from and ad campaign tags (for example, which ad you clicked). We may use advertising tools such as the Meta Pixel to measure whether our ads work.
Why we collect it
- To check whether we service your area and to contact you about signing up.
- To schedule and carry out your visits, get into your yard, and keep your dogs safe.
- To bill you and keep accounting records.
- To text you about your service, including visit confirmations, gate photos, schedule changes and billing.
- To let you know when we reach your area, if you asked us to.
- To understand and improve our website and advertising.
- To meet our legal and tax obligations.
We only collect what we need for these purposes. We do not sell your personal information.
Consent
By submitting your information on our website or signing up for service, you consent to us collecting, using and disclosing it as described here. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us, subject to legal or contractual limits. If you withdraw consent we need to provide the service, we may not be able to keep servicing your yard.
Text messages and email
When you give us your mobile number, you agree that we can text you about your request and your service. We will only send promotional messages where Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) allows it. You can stop promotional messages at any time by replying STOP or emailing us. Service messages, like your gate photo, are part of the service you signed up for.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need to do their job. These include our scheduling and customer software, our payment processor, our website host, our text messaging and email providers, and our advertising platforms. They are required to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by its authorities. You can ask us for details about our use of service providers outside Canada.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business, in which case the buyer must protect it under this policy.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including password-protected accounts and limiting access to the people who need it. We treat gate codes and key locations as sensitive and use them only to service your yard.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires. If you never become a customer, or you ask us to stop contacting you about your area, we delete your request details within a reasonable time.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask questions about how we handle it. Email us and we will respond within the time the law requires. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
